A main problem highlighted previously was the reliability of the electronic boarding passes. How can we tell that the data entered in it is correct? Well the paperless passes consist of a barcode. Well how do we know that the information contained in this barcode is correct? We know that the barcode is reliable because it is a special barcode. Usually barcodes are just one dimensional; but the one that will be received on the passengers mobile will be a two dimensional barcode. The barcode in the electronic pass is called the QR code. The information on this code is really hard to alter. The code can contain a lot of information. It is very reliable and is already being used in high- tech places like Japan. As it is being so widely used, the QR code has to be reliable as Japan is using it for most of its work. The United States of America is also planning to expand its use of the QR code. Moreover, the data in the pass will not be outdated as the pass will be sent after a ticket has been purchased keeping the pass up to date. Hence, people will be confident about the system of the digital passes. Therefore, the reliability of the paperless passes is ensured.
